Game modes
You decide how the evening goes.
SnapParty offers three game modes for handing out photo tasks: in waves, step by step or all at once. On top of that you can switch on groups, teams, voting and a live photo wall.

The three game modes
Which game modes does SnapParty have?
You set the mode once beforehand — and you can still change it in the middle of the evening.
Waves
You release the waves.
- All guests get the same wave at the same moment. Full control — but someone has to press the button.
- For parties with a programme, where someone is running the show anyway.
Step by step
The tasks hand themselves out.
- Each task opens for each guest at their own random time — spread over the period you set, with a personal notification.
- For parties where nobody should have to stand at a screen.
All open
All tasks are there from the start.
- No unlocking, no waiting. Your guests do the tasks at their own pace.
- For small groups, where unlocking would only get in the way.
Groups
Tasks that lead beyond your own table.
You can split your guests into groups — the bride’s family, the groom’s family, club, colleagues. The groups aren’t for competition: they help SnapParty recognise who probably already knows each other.
Then SnapParty can set tasks that specifically ask for someone from outside your own group. That’s exactly where the photos happen that would otherwise never exist — of people who might otherwise have stayed at their own table all evening.
Anyone who doesn’t give a group when joining plays along as normal and just doesn’t get this one kind of task. Nobody is left out because they skipped a question.
What it looks like
Three tasks, three ways to play.
How a task reaches your guests — the same card as in the app.
- Beyond your own tableA photo with two guests who aren’t sitting at your table — Julia and Leon
- A point for your teamGather your team in front of the photo wall and take a group picture.
- The momentCatch the moment everyone laughs at the same time.
Team battle
Two teams, one score.
If you like, your guests play against each other in two teams. Every completed task counts for their own team, and the score is on the photo wall.
You don’t have to. Team battle is a switch per party — without it everyone plays for themselves, and nothing about the tasks changes.
Extra features
What else you can switch on.
Voting
Your guests can vote for the best photos — one vote per guest and picture. At the end you see which photo got the most votes.
Tasks that suit the group
Not every task suits every party. SnapParty weights what is handed out — by what you set beforehand, and by whether one or more people are needed for it.
The photo wall
New pictures appear live on a projector or TV. A laptop connected to the TV is enough — no extra equipment needed.
Frequently asked questions
About the game modes
Which game modes does SnapParty have?
Three: Waves (you release the tasks in batches), Step by step (the tasks spread themselves automatically over the evening) and All open (all tasks are ready from the start).
Which game mode suits a wedding?
Usually “Step by step”: the evening spreads itself out, and neither of the couple has to unlock anything. “Waves” fits if someone is running the show anyway — with a fixed programme, for example.
Can the game mode be changed during the party?
Yes. The mode can be switched in the middle of the evening — if the waves are going too slowly, you switch to “Step by step” or open everything.
Can guests play in teams?
Yes, if you switch it on. Then your guests play in two teams, and every completed task counts for their own team. Without this setting everyone plays for themselves.
What happens if a guest doesn’t give a group?
They play along as normal. They just don’t get tasks that specifically ask for someone from another group — those can’t be done by them, because their own group is unknown.
Can guests rate the photos?
Yes. Every guest can vote for a photo — once per picture. At the end you see which photo got the most votes.
Does the photo wall need extra equipment?
No. A laptop connected to the TV or projector is enough. New pictures appear there live, without any other devices or installation.
Are there badges or achievements?
No. There are points, but no badges — we only show here what has really been built.
