An alternative to the photo booth

The photo booth alternative for photos from the whole party.

A photo booth takes photos of the people who stand in front of it. With SnapParty, your guests become the photographers of the evening themselves: photo challenges spread across the whole party — no app, no guest account.

The difference

The photo booth waits. SnapParty goes to the guests.

A photo booth captures whoever stands in front of it. It waits in its spot, and whichever of your guests feels like it comes over.

SnapParty does it the other way round: your guests get the photo tasks right on their phones. Instead of the same backdrop every time, pictures happen at the table, on the dance floor and outside the door — wherever the party is happening right now.

Photo booth and SnapParty

One photo corner. Or the whole party.

Both can be fun. The difference lies in what kind of memories you take home at the end.

Classic photo booth

Your guests come to the camera.

  • stands in one place during the party
  • similar angle and backdrop in many photos
  • good for deliberately posed pictures with props
  • prints to take home, right there on the spot

SnapParty

Photos are taken wherever the party is happening.

  • runs on your guests’ smartphones
  • photo tasks spread across the whole party
  • tasks about particular people get guests talking to each other
  • photos, points, live photo wall and video messages go together

To be honest

When a photo booth is the right choice.

If you want paper prints to take home, if props and deliberately posed pictures should be the focus, or if a fixed station is part of your decor concept — then a classic photo booth is the better fit. SnapParty deliberately doesn’t offer those two things.

You can also use SnapParty alongside a photo booth: the photo booth stays the photo corner, and SnapParty runs across the whole party at the same time.

Why SnapParty

Photos don’t happen by themselves. SnapParty gives the reason.

  • “Find Anna.” Not: “Take any old photo.”

Tasks about particular people can build in specific guests. That’s how encounters happen between people who would otherwise have stayed at different tables all evening.

  • New photos appear live on the photo wall.

New pictures can appear straight on a TV or projector — and bring the photos back into the party while it’s still going.

  • More than photos: video messages stay.

Guests can leave short personal video messages, right on their own smartphone and without an extra camera.

Frequently asked questions

Photo booth or SnapParty?

Is SnapParty really an alternative to a photo booth?

Yes, if instead of a fixed photo corner you’d rather have photos from the whole party and more interaction between your guests. A classic photo booth has other advantages, such as props or instant prints. SnapParty relies on photo challenges that bring your guests together in the middle of the party.

Do guests need an app for it?

No. Getting started works via a QR code, right in the browser. No installation and no guest account of their own are needed.

Can you use SnapParty alongside a photo booth?

Yes. Both can run in parallel. The photo booth stays the fixed photo corner, while SnapParty takes your guests through the rest of the party with photo challenges.

Does it work at a wedding too?

That’s exactly where it’s at home. At weddings, several families and circles of friends meet who don’t all know each other — exactly the situation tasks about particular people are made for.

What happens to the photos after the party?

They can be viewed all together and downloaded in full resolution. How long they stay available is set out in our privacy policy (available in German).
